Dr. Buckley is the Vice President and General Manager of Ocean Applied, a division of Ocean Insight, which manufactures advanced photonic systems for industrial measurement of chemical composition, product quality, and color.

In addition to leadership roles at TSI Incorporated and Planetary Resources, Steve co-founded Photon Machines, an Inc-500 photonics company that was sold to Teledyne in 2014, as well as Alpenglow Biosciences, a growing venture-backed company focused on cancer detection.

Prior to entering the business world, Dr. Buckley was a tenured engineering professor at the University of California, San Diego, where he ran a sizeable research group and was Associate Director of the Center for Energy Research.

He holds a B.S.E. from Princeton University, a Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley, and an M.B.A from Quantic.
